Giving Back to Our Communities
The power of coming together and giving back to our communities is very important to Firebird Sweets. We strive to help others as much as possible and have a seasonal budget allocated for donations. Some of our favorite charities benefit animals, mental and neurological health, and the LGBTQ+ community. Please leave us a message at 206.569.8436 or firstname.lastname@example.org with plenty of notice and your non-profit (501(c)(3)), charitable organization’s mission!
While we would love to fulfill all requests that come in, sometimes it is not possible. We still love hearing about all the hard work fellow community members are doing to better the world, so we try to be emissaries for your causes at the very least. Thank you for all that you do!
Eric, the Sourdough Starter
One of Chef Rumi’s pride and joys is the starter used to make Firebird Sweets’ sourdough bread. Eric, as she has affectionately named it as a tribute to her father, is nearly a decade old and is a hearty, resilient, reliable starter. Whenever friends mentioned wanting to build a starter of their own, Chef Rumi always offered to share hers since it had already been lovingly cultivated for years.
Eric is a hard-working member of our team so he may not always be available, but if you drop in to Firebird Sweets with your own container when we have extra to spare, we’d love to send a bit of Eric home you! Though we cannot share our own brand of magic and alchemy that goes into our breads, there are tons of resources on how to properly care for a starter and bake delicious homemade sourdough with it. We’d love to hear of your success stories!
